When monitoring CHT on aircooled engine, is it a safe assumption that your engine is "safe" from any over heating related issues if you always operate your engine in the 350 - 400 degree range?
Additionally, if an engine is running "lean" or timing is advanced too much, would this be reflected in a higher than "normal" CHT reading.
For example: If someone were to intentionally lean his engine out a bit and advance the timing while making certain to never let the engine go above 400 (if this is even possible) would there still be damage to the engine? Would other components be affected that are not heat related?
Any thoughts? |
