I will post beter picture in the spring. It is currently in a shipping container with 4 feet of snow piled in front of it. I actually had to dig a path to it on Christmas Day to find out what my gift was..... worth it I think.

OK... Spring came & went... Now it's almost a year later, I'm sure you took a better pic of the sign by now... LOL!

You gonna show us?!?!?

Yes, it is an awesome sign. I wish my garage was awesome enough to put it in.... some day.

Now what about my problem below. Someone has run into this I'm sure. I see a little information about it when I search the forum just looking for a little more help.

Need some suggestions/help on my front beam. It is a ball joint that I narrowed 4" and added adjusters. The mount for the steering damper as a result of the narrowing is mounted over the the fiber bearing that resides inside the upper beam tube. I think that it likely got a little hot when I welded the damper mount on and it swelled up. Whatever happened the upper swing arm is very stiff. I would have thought that the fiber bearing could have taken a little heat. Another possibility is that the tube deformed or shrunk. Anyone else run into this issue? What did you do to solve it?

I have a new fiber bearing to install but before I go mucking around with it I just wanted to hear if any one else had this issue.

I've never had the same problem, that's why I didn't answer... Sorry!

It sounds like you are right on though. Did you remove any leaves from the beam? That would also help with the stiffness. But, it does sound like you may have ruined your bearing, & need to replace it anyway...

Thanks Shorty, I did not intend to sound pissed... Just wanted to bump the topic back up.

Worked on the buggy a little last couple of weeks...

The grey primer part goes under the fiberglass. Planning on running some one inch tubing from it down to the rear trans mounts.

Boxed in the area between side support tubes as I had planned then decided to add cut outs on inner panels to act as map pockets.

Thought I would share an idea that I had following confirmation from Winnie that I do not have an authentic Manx. The tubes under the sides are different? I created these models and may get them 3D printed. I may even try hand at casting them in aluminium. One is a nose badge and the other is a tail badge...

I have had that issue before and usually I just run a ream in there to clean it up and recheck the arm.

Thanks Iguana,

I did end up getting it fixed. I had to replace the inner fibre bushing but before I did that I had to make a flap out of a a piece of course emery cloth and a dowel to clean up the inside diameter of the beam torsion tube. Moves freely after I got it back together.

It has been another couple of years since I did any significant work. Competed as much of my wiring harness as I could without the body on over the summer.

I am about 6 hours into making seat frames. One frame is tacked together and parts for another one almost ready to assemble. Think Morgan or Austin Healey buckets seats for the finished product. The way my role bar is positioned inside the body reduces my options for off the shelf seats ( plus I'm cheap). This design is the narrowest I have found with a reasonable amount of room for your rear end. All made out of 3/4" plywood and 20gage sheet metal.

I guess I'm a bit late to suggest checking with Kirkey in St Andrews (near Cornwall). They have a wide range of aluminum seats, most racing but some street types that would suit. They have upholstery fro many designs as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had not heard of Kirkey before. The other part of the issue is that I'm cheap...I have $45 invested so far. I think I can cover them myself and have two complete seats for less than $200. This is the look I'm going for...
