In the late eighties, a Thing with a magnificent camouflage paint job passed me Southbound on the 405 fwy opposite the Navy Ammunition Dump in Seal Beach, CA. On the door was the Afrika Korps palm tree logo, and lettering describing the vehicle type number, weight, year of construct, and the bottom line said: "DER SOLDATEN FREUND". If anyone out there knows of this car, I'd sure like to talk with them about it. George
