Kubelken or anyone thaT knows, when I go to get some centerline wheels, Douglas wheels or some other kind of 15 inch offroad wheel what offset do I need to get???
And does the offset only really matter in the front because of the upper control arm rubbing? |

| You should be ok with a 15" wheel, the 15 in. bus wheel clears the 181 uc arm, it is the 14X 5 inch bus wheel and 15 in bug 4 1/2 wheel that rubs. If the front and back offsets differ, then the width should vary accordingly. The center of both front and back wheel should line up so you do get funny cornering forces. any good shop will let you test fit a wheel before buying it. |

Very interesting! My 67 Westy has 15 inch wheels on it and I think I have a whole other set of 15 inch bus wheels.
I wonder if Mickey Thompson mini mags would fit on those rims? |

I am sure you know the difference between bus and bug 15 inch rims.
all 15 inch tires under 12 inches in width at the tread will fit 5.5 inch rims |

| I know that must be a joke. The offset to the inside is about 4.5 and 1 to the out on a thing. A twelve inch tread width would throw you 6 inches past your 4.5 mark of which you only have another inch to the wall. What planet are you living on? The man's question was about offset with aftermarket wheels not original ones. |

I guess you did not do so well in math class,
if you have rim 5.5 inches in width and a tire of 12 tread width, you will only have 3.25 inches on both sides of the rim of extra tread overhang. The tire does not know where the bolt circle is offset, it centers itself on the rim centerline. On a tire that wide the bead will looked pinched and that looks funny, but it will fit.
The best solution is to stay way under the limit of possibilities, like a 8 inch wide tire on a street car and a 6 inch m+s tire on a off road unit.
I have 15 inch wide tires on my rail on chevy truck rims and they look correct for the unit and do not rub the spring plates. |
