|
|
Here are a couple pictures. Can someone tell me if these are indeed stock VW Thing Rims for a 1973 model?
I looked through the Wheel FAQ and saw the mention of the official 5JKx14 as the size on the wheel, which these have, but then saw some posts make mention there are "different" 5JKx14 that will not work.
So, that confused me on how to tell if these I am looking to buy are indeed the stock VW wheels.
Hope these pictures will help.
Is there something else on the wheel that will tell me, part number wise, if these are correct.
Thanks
tj

It's in the same area just between two other wheel stud holes. Those two markings and a VW logo are all that are on my wheels. _________________ member of: Fort Worth Aircoolers Gang |

The difference between the correct and incorrect 14's is the off-set. The incorrect Bus 14" ers have a ton of negative offset. Anyway, if you post a pic at more of an oblique angle the offset will be visible. In you head on pics is hard to tell. _________________ --- The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

I picked them up this weekend. They also have this ET32.5 and also a VW logo stamped on them. So I look good to go.
Thanks

Bus 14" rims have slots, thing 14" rims do not. Those look like stock thing rims to me. |

5JKx14 is all I have on my steelies too. I know these are the original wheels. Well I do have the VW stamped in too, just not the offset info. _________________ "Okay, so there's 6 beers and 5 of us. You know what this means don't you? 4 of you are going to have to leave."

The 14" bus wheels have small vents where the center section meets the outer rim. The Thing wheels are solid all the way around. You have Thing wheels there.

Painted my wheels today and noticed that one of my wheels have the small holes, must be from a bus? I also painted the spare tire and noticed it is 15" the wheel all the wheels on my thing are 14"... Will this be a problem when I need the spare? Is the bus wheel OK to run? Thanks for the info. |
