Why not?????
Seriuosly tho - Vw made an all wheel drive vanagon. I don't see why you couldn't take the all wheel drive parts and fit it in the thing. Sure it would take a ton of metal fab work, not to mention adapting the front drive axles and mounting the extra gear box.
when your done it would cost a fortune but it would be 4wd. People used to front mount v8's into bugs so I don't see why this isn't possible just do a search for vanagon synchro |

That would be taking 2 of the most expensive VWs and hacking them up. It would be cool to use the Syncro system to make a all wheel drive sandrail! |

you may have trouble importing one into the u.s. A local turck wholesaler has a couple for sale here, (as well as a few canadian-built unimogs) for between $4,000 and $6,000 cdn. |

LSD is pretty good Brian, but I've taken our Thing to it's limits and had to back down. Gave it a work out today after work, and only hit the skidplate once. Sure was fun! |

I sneer at 4WD without LSD.

But LSD would be nice, did your car always have LSD or did you put that tranny in it? Was LSD available in Canada or something? |

Limited slip diffs were available on european 181s. a lot of the military and government issue had LSD transaxles as standard equipment. |

So does this mean a Thing with LSD is basically an ALL Wheel Drive vehicle? What is this LSD exactly. My concern is I live where it snows and would be nice to have a VW that can handle the white stuff.
