Is there a manual out there for tearing apart a Thing? I just started tearing into my new thing today and it is much more of a hassle than first thought. Not sure how cables run and where certain bolts are. I don't mind the work, i am just a little baffled. Also, what is the best way to get a nice rusted bolt out.

Thanks in advance

get the Parts manual available from Mike Basso at Things Unlimited- it has exploded diagrams of every assembly on a Thing- additionally, get a bentley manual for the VW Beetle of the same era. There are no thing specific manuals per se, but between these two books you will cover anything you could ever need to know. IMO, Chilton and Haynes are both less than adequate, while i have never had a question my bentley manual couldn't answer.

You also might want to pick up a copy of Muir's book on how to keep your VW alive. Pretty much required reading for any aircooled VW owner.
