Jpickens! Why Chapel Hill? You didn't call!
My '66 camper was used for Patch Adams, but the scenes didn't make the movie.
The '66 was also used in a 3 minute short titled Manson Family Christmas. It was in virtually the whole movie.
The SC and the '66 are in a film currently being shot in the area.
Here's a clip.

almost in a japanese bank commercial in NYC. till the buyer told me its fate. turn my og 15 window into a pressed bumper 57 15 window painted black on exterior and a orange and grey interior. he ended up turning a 66 13 window deluxe into a 57 15 window instead after i turned him down. coulda use the cash but not at that sacrifice to my all og ness. I,ll post pics soon . the 66 came out great though considering. _________________ So what I drive the short bus! |

that's a lot of work for a commercial. Why were they hell bent on a '57 PB? Most non-bus people don't know the difference between a bay and split most of the time. _________________ It's not how wide your hatch is, it's what you do with it.

My 21 window was used in a Qwest TV commercial. I don't watch TV, but supposedly it is playing in many different areas. I'll dig up some photos at some point. The cool thing was I ended up doing photos during the shoot and they hired me on as the stills photographer, so I got paid twice for being there.
I had a family rent my newest bus to use in a family photo shoot, but on that one I ended up getting hired to do the photos too, so that was cool too.
No movies yet, but maybe one of these days.
I had a nose clip that apparently was used in a Converse Chuck Taylor print ad. If anyone has seen it I'd love to get a copy. _________________ Richard

My bus on Good Morning America.
They drove it from New York City, to Washington D.C., to Chapel Hill N.C.
Then paid me to fly down and drive it home.
Between several ads and this feature, I've paid for 1/3 of the bus in the last five years.

My buddy Tubby's 57? Camper was in "Cosmic Radio". It was shot in Idyllwild and shown in the 2007 Palm Springs Film Fest.
The bus is visible at 15 sec and 22 sec.

Cool. My '66 camper was used when they filmed in Chapel Hill. I was told they got a lot of good shots of it. But, alas, it hit the cutting room floor. _________________ Judy

My '66 Westy Bus was used in a City of San Antonio Waste Management commercial promoting recycling last year. I still get calls whenever someone sees the spot and recognizes the bus. They had actors playing hippies who started "the movement" to recycle back in the 60's. It was a lot of fun AND I got paid!
