What color did VW originally use on such interior items as steering column tube, seat frames, shifter lever, e-brake handle, turn signal lever housing, etc. For the early Ghias (50's), was it close to a light gray, ivory or beige?

I believe it was light ivory - the same as in the bug. Contact Wolfsburg West. They should be able to help you out and they even sell the colors in a spraycan for small jobs.

For late 50's Ghia's the color was I believe was called silver biege and looked like a lite gray. I don't know if bugs of this era had this color but it definitly not ivory. This I believe was true until 1960 when the Ghia's got the same interior knobs/steering wheel etc. as the Bugs.
