Sadly, that price really isn't that out of line. No one is reproducing quality 67 hubcaps currently. The good "German" ones for late bugs and domed ones for wide 5's are closing in on a $100 each new. I'm running $20 dollar Brazilian VW caps on mine. Personally, I think they look fine. Only a hardcore VW purist could tell the difference between the $20 dollar cap and the $200 NOS one.

I have a 67 bug but wouldn't pay that unless the bug was show worthy and a trailer queen which I'd never own.

In my opinion you could buy a used original set and have them restored and rechromed for far less.

I tried to get my original hubcaps rechromed on my 67 at a shop in Mesa. I had the bumpers at the chrome shop to get fixed and replated. I asked him about straightening and re-chroming my hub caps. He laughed and said they don't do hubcaps anymore due to the high cost that people were not willing to pay.

I know the cost to straighten my bumpers and rechrome them about made me gag. Chroming parts has just gotten stupid pricy.

I wonder if anyone reading this has had their caps done and how much?

EPA regulations have made it cost prohibitive to say the least. When looking around I was told there was only one place here in Florida that still did chroming and they were one of the few in the entire southeast. Spacecoast Plating.

Ok, that is fair, I haven't done any chroming in quite a while and have never done hubcaps.

I've heard there are some places in AZ that simply take it to Mexico in batches. Smile I don't know the details though.

Actually, it looks like someone tried to jump into the shitina fad, (redone interior, crusty on the outside) thinking they had a winner, and failed. 15k? Rolling Eyes

It seems to me that they would have included a few details.

Indeed. Trim-less windshields are in this season! Very kind of them to omit the carpet as well, you know as a courtesy so you can inspect the replaced floors.

While that price tag is insane, the fact that NOS versions of those things even still exist is pretty insane, so I don't mind the price tag... since I don't have a need to buy it myself. Razz If I did have a 1960 Beetle that was restoring and "needed" those.... I'd be interested for sure, but I'd be haggling instead of "buy it now".

Find a set of decent used ones, let alone NOS. You need to take into consideration that they're a ONE YEAR ONLY part, AND NOS. With that said, and I've seen a lot worse being posted. I'd spend this on a set of visors before I spent $800 on NOS '66/67 hubcaps lol. These are just one of those parts that aren't reproduced, so someone looking to restore a '60 bug as correct as possible would see something like this as a score to have even found these in NOS condition.

See what I did there? Razz Good luck with sale
