Or... he's brilliant if people are stupid enough to pay anywhere near those prices! Laughing

how about this 'rare' beauty - so good they couldn't be bothered taking it out of the lock-up to take pics. it's both original and restored, even with fuzzy photos just look at the quality paint job! gotta be worth the money...

This one doesn't really belong in this forum-- but since I didn't see a whine thread in the watercooled forum....

Or maybe I'm just out of touch with how valuable those old Rabbit trucks are.. YTM

So, help me with my math. 1000 junk VW's and associated parts for $1 million dollars? What's that $1k each per junk yard VW?

Well, one can dream, right? Wink

Sadly most of it will probably go to the crusher.

Especially if he thinks they are worth $1k each. It is amazing how quickly the remaining classic VW wrecking yards are vanishing. Then again, it's been 40 years since these cars were made.

I bet the model A and Model T crowd said the same thing decades ago as those Ford specific wrecking yards crushed the last of them. Wink

Bill - there used to be a "Beetle Body and Parts" at Washington and 44th Street. When I bought my 1970 in 1972, it had dents in the two rear fenders, bought new fenders there and installed them, then they painted them to match. Their parts were all sorted and organized too. There were a couple of German auto salvage yards right near there too, back then.

When I go to UPickAZ in Prescott Valley, rarely see a beetle at all, and the very few I've seen there in the last 8 years had nothing decent left on them.

I grew up in the San Diego area. There were VW wrecking yards everywhere. Most of them were not even wrecked. The owners would blow an engine or transmission and have them towed there to get rid of it. Just ton's of rust free, low mileage parts.

They are all gone now.. Crying or Very sad

I don't see anything that says scam to me but it is dumb that they did screenshots instead of the real original photos.
This isn't the first time I've seen screenshots though, it happens.

Please - If you think an ad is a scam, hit report in the ad so I get an email and can check it out.
Even if you are not sure, I don't mind checking things out, especially if it's a brand new user.

"The bad that I know of:
1. When driving with a passenger and while making left sharp turns, the right front wheel area makes a horrible screeching sound. Noticed this in the spring of 2016 and purchased the car in summer of 2014. Only noticed when a passenger is in vehicle and my mechanic put a wrench on every bolt but couldn't find anything. His solution: Either start replacing random parts or wait for something to fall off, then fix it. I opted for the latter. 1.5 years later and nothing has fallen off! "

Either his mechanic is an idiot, incompetent, or just taking advantage of this guys' ignorance.
