Guessing here on value but $85 sounds like an NOS one in the VW box to me

THIS is what an NOS for $85 should look like.

You sure did. As soon as I saw your post, it made me think of this ad I saw and considered buying.

Some folks are just insane. $1k for a complete rustbucket with no engine, oh he'll sell you the engine too for "the right price" though Rolling Eyes

I don't agree. If that rust bucket was anywhere within 500km away from me I would be all over it. I can not find a straight body for mine, so I am making it back from parts. I HOPE I get it straight. That one looks so much better! Moreover: 75 makes it a rack and pinion car (very expensive to get), and it has a sunroof. Plus all the other parts.

Well since you're into a complete money pit where even a rusted out heap is a better deal, he just dropped the price to $800 so you can use the extra money saved to have it shipped across the globe.

Super lame looking Briz bumper installs on this "fully restored" custom. I don't know how anybody can step back from installing a bumper that looks like that and say to themselves, "Yeah, that looks good, job well done." The rear is a mile too high.

What began as a Beetle had $15k worth of ruin inflicted upon it and effectively turned a Beetle into a Cockroach.

When I see late model Type 1s like this, I think of the trends of decades past when oval windows were cut out and big rear windows installed, hard tops chopped into convertibles or the wheel wells cut out of early Buses.

Seems a little harsh. While I'm not a big fan of this type of resto-mod, the only things I would change are the crappy engine tin and those horrendous bumpers. Not a big fan of the steering wheel but the rest of the interior (except that color scheme...) looks really nicely done.

Vamram, I agree. What I wrote was more than a little harsh. I wish I could delete it. I normally keep such strong opinions to myself. It is true that I feel hailing a virtue out of what I see as ruining a classic VW is criminal, but I should have still kept my opinion to myself. It was late, I was falling asleep and apparently my filter fell off.

There's enough negativity in the world without me adding to it. I always do my best to be supportive on Samba.

True that and I think you're allowed a pass here! After all, this is a rant-thread of sorts, substantial attitude is to be expected! Cool

That's kinda jacked up.

Also, 12.82% APR! SYA•••!!!

Yep, I did notice that at the time. As second registered owner, I paid almost nothing for the accessory AC and radio.

I worked at VW dealership in 1971, and all the incoming new VWs had leatherette.

Hey he lowered the price. I think it was over 100k until recently.

Btw, this is a *new* Euromax branded brake light switch. It has about 1000-1500 miles on it, I don't recall the mileage when I installed a new German MC. It gave up the ghost on me going down Bear Mountain in NY. Fortunately it's a small leak, but a leak nonetheless, or it could have been a shortcut into the Hudson Valley for me.
