You guys ever run across any Type 1s with overriders? I mentioned before about my 1/18 with Euro bumpers and I have yet to see any so called "US" beetles except for one a while back that was a herbie model (not what I was looking for). |

Quite simply, Bob, SOME of us can't afford to have a vast collection of the
real thing.
(so we have a half-vast toy collection) |

I really don't collect them...............I consider myself a kind of broker for them. What isn't on my car, I usually sell. I enjoy the chase more that the part. I don't really keep anything for long unless my price is too high and it sits for awhile. What I learn about the accessory is my "collection" because that never goes away and I can share that with people who need to know. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." I can see your point Bob. I have seen all the help you have given people with info on accessories and I must say its good to have someone around with that kind of knowlege.
As far as toys go for me, The Chase is a big part of it. I also come from a long line of packrats so I can't seem to get rid of anything |

Nice score on the single cab Chuck.
I to have dealt with people overseas on toys. It takes awhile for them to get here and all the emotions get to you for sending your money there, but they do seem to come through.

I'm a casual collector. I actually collect anything VW - the older the better. Toys, brochures, old literature, dealership items, parts & accessories, signs etc etc. Here's a shot I took several years ago of some of my toys :

And we know that the decanter-in-a-beetle in the middle of the pic is worth $1200- $3500 according to one well known eBay seller. |

That was bought on E-Bay about 3-4 years ago for about $150. I don't recall the exact amount but I thought it was a good deal. No thermos at that price though. I still watch them on E-Bay and the prices are all over the place on them. The mint & complete ones still fetch $500 or so.
