I just picked up an 11/60 Distributors & Dealers booklet with plain typeface on the cover for my '61 sunroof bug. I'm having fun using Google Map's satellite view to zoom in on old dealership locations.

Cool, good progress so far. Smile

I forgot to state that
"I, II, III, and IV are believed to indicate quarters, e.g. I/1962 is the first quarter of 1962."

if you look closely, two of them that are the same date stamp in '62 or '63 have different covers. one with a hood badge, one without.

unfortunately all my dealers and distributors booklets are out on loan right now.

they are really good for identifying license plate frames.

In 1995 I used some of my older booklets on a cross country trip. They were very helpful in locating some 'out of business' dealerships in some fairly off-the-beaten path towns.....The result was a nice find of the occasional license plate frame or old dealer promotional items (key chains, dealer badges, coffee mugs, etc.)

Boy, are we weird or what! Shocked (ok, I'm weird!)

Top left: Wolkswagen Owners Guide to Dealers in South and South West Africa, July 1965.
Bottom left: Owners Guide for Volkswagen Service in South and South West Africa, May 1962.
Top right: Repair Price Manual for the Republic of South Africa including South West Africa, December 1962.

Do you happen to have VW dealer/distributor lists for 1969 through 1972? I am trying to identify dealers in Wheeling, West Virgina for those years. Thanks.

Everett, have you considered updating the dealers page with later (post-'67) info? I find it is really helpful to look through my later ones to determine what era dealership plate frames are from.

I have thought about it but the number of "new" dealers in later books is astronomical so we haven't decided to commit the time yet.

I have a 4/72 book and it lists the same one that Everett listed for 3/70, Bill Cruse Volkswagen, Inc.

Hey guys! My husband and I have recently found a dealer frame from Jay Thomas Decatur Alabama. We are trying to figure out the time frame it was located in Decatur as we live extremely close and my bus came from a Decatur dealer. We do not have any of those booklets with the dealers names and it is not listed in the Dealers area. Could someone please take a look in their booklets and let us know when they were in Decatur, AL? We would greatly appreciate it.

I have a listing in my 4-70 and my 4-71 book but not my 1980 book.

Good Morning, Everett, Lind & Co.

Just wondering what is the oldest dated Dealer/Distributor book for the USA and/or Canada that you have in your collections? And on a related note, do you have a sense of when VW started publishing these little booklets? Thanks.
