|
|
You guys probably saw it listed yesterday at $12,225. I got some tiny pics which I'll add when I get a chance. From what I can tell, this is the scoop. The camper is either homebrew or some previously unknown conversion company's work. The kit is pretty thrashed and really adds nothing to the value IMO. The bus looks rough, but it appears more dry than you'd think coming from North Dakota (w/ the exception of one LARGE hole in the cargo floor...)
See my gallery for 8 other pictures of this bus, which should give you a fair idea of condition when added to this decription.
Pluses:
Double door
Rockers and doglegs both seem decent, as do parts of the belly pans. (Granted, this is assumed from poor pics...). Decent doesn't mean great though, just better than you'd expect.
Behr scoop
Incorrect:
Steering wheel
Cargo doors are hacked for windows both sides
Rear wheel wells are hacked for bigger tires
Two holes (odd place for turn signals?) hacked in lower nose
Missing:
Front/Rear bumpers
Engine
Drum-to-drum rear end
Tail lights
Reflectors
Some of the door glass
Cab Door handles (and other handles?)
Unknown:
Completeness of Dash pod items
Extent of rust through on belly pans
Whether or not brakelight assly is present
Whether semaphores are present or not
Extent of rust everywhere else...
BD specific items that are obviously present and not mentioned above:
Fuel tank
Spare tire shelf
Most of the glass
Splash pan
Engine lid (has obvious damage)
1 dome light, possibly the second
bulkhead
Curious as to what folks think this is worth. The ad has been removed, but I doubt that it has sold as of yet as the seller sent everyone that had replied a "bulk" email saying he'd remove the ad to concentrate on the folks that had replied. It's too bad the ad didn't contain all this information and more, but evidently less is more to many folks when you're describing a bus for sale. I would certainly want to see this bus before buying it.
I would be interested in this bus at a lower price, curious as to what the experts think. I may be way off, who knows...
Regardless, it's another cool bus found up north, 'eh'?
TIA!

IMHO, considering its condition and all that's missing half that amount would still be too much |

It's kinda hard to tell from those pictures, because you really don't know what your working with?? Who knows what the undercariage looks like??
There is a big ass hole right in the middle of the cargo floor, which is covered by plywood. Looks like it's wasted like Linda's booty and it's all gone. This could be the reason for they plywood. If there is a hole as big as Linda's booty there and rusted through, imagine what the undercariage looks like? You figure your gonna spend lots of cash on welding and metal repair. Then comes the parts it needs. BIG MONEY!!
This bus is definetly not for a rookie.
It's kinda like that 50 Panel that just went over seas, it looks really nice in pictures but a surprise awaits the new owner.
Whom ever buys it, and bought that 50, need to hook up with Gerson! |

Thanks for your replies guys.
Here's a link to ~20 other pictures. Poor quality, like the ones uploaded to the site already. But at least they give you an idea of what is there and what isn't... http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ovalwindow/album?.di...doubledoor
Positives:
Looks like the speedo is still there, the dash grab handle and the footrest.
Nice looking front seat.
Negatives:
Looks like one would need at least 3 more BD wheels, maybe 5. (I can't tell if those are 16's or not, I'm guessing they're not...)
Probably in need of cargo door handles as well.
Speedo glass is shattered?
At first I thought the thing on the roof must indicate a hole had been cut, but it doesn't look like it. NO CLUE how the cargo floor would get that toasted w/o a big hole in the roof....
Who knows, maybe the seller has all the missing/loose stuff in a box, I honestly don't know.
So if someone were pretty motivated, and assuming there wasn't significant frame issues and nothing extra included in a box somewhere, offering them ~$6K would be a fair offer? (Maybe more depending on what "extras" are included?)
In the end, I'd probably be better off paying Gerson to rework the '53 in his current classified ad, but I'd rather have a BD panel than a standard... |

I doubt the guy will go 50% of asking price, worth a try. _________________ ---

I hear what you're saying there too. I emailed him and told him if it didn't sell at his asking price and he was willing to come down, to get ahold of me. I didn't state a number. I also offered him a trade that he stated he was interested in in his ad, so we'll see. He seems like the kind of guy who will hold onto something for a while before he'll come down much, I think I've seen him advertise a flipseat on here 3 different times, no clue if it moved the last time it was up or not. There's a couple things in my favor, the need for running gear being one of them, location being another. But I need another major project like I need another hole in my head... |

If you get another hole in your head John you could always do some great flute impersonations! |
