obviously most vw's rust but why does it seem like every fridolin is super rusty? just wondering and dreaming of owning one.. like most.. |

I think they're all rusty because they were all bought and used for the same task - mail delivery in all European weather conditions. And probably not maintained the way you would your own car. They were workhorses and treated that way. By the time they were sold off it was because most of them had seen their service life. |

hmm.. makes sense much like american postal jeeps.. of coarse i got lucky and got the post master jeep.. so it was well taken care of. thanks, i never thought of that |

maybe the US post didn't bother servicing their trucks but i can assure you that swiss,german and austrian post all had very well equipped workshops with highly qualified personel and regular services were not skimped.
the delivery vehicles were inevitably sold off when they were maximum ten years old and in some cases were disposed off with all sorts of new parts which had been fitted just a few weeks before.
the farmers who usually bought these vehicles are the ones to blame for the lack of maintenance afterwards. oh, and hippies as well of course. |

I have my fridolin for two years.
I pay €1250,- for it.
It was also a verry rusty one. |
