|
|
I tried to replace the cables that run from the passenger side lever to the heater boxes. I noticed that the previous owner only had one heater box connected (passenger side - only 1 cable). When I tried to run the cable back to the driver's side box, I hit some sort of clog in the tube. If I try to run a wire from the rear of the car, it hangs up in the same place (just as it comes into the cabin, under the rear seat). Whatever it is, it's solid. Blasting the tube with 125 psi of compressed air didn't help at all. I don't see how the tube could have been crushed because I can't even see the damn thing!
One side note: when I tried to "snake" the hole from the rear of the car, the wire came out wet, rusty, and smelled of stagnant water.
The next thing that I plan on trying is to snake it again with heavier gauge wire in a drill.
Do you guys have any tricks up your collective sleeve that I can try? |

What you suggest would be exactly what I'd try next. I might flatten the end of the wire I put in there with a hammer and use a sanding disc to put an edge on it before I snaked it in there, better to cut through the gunk it might encounter.

sounds like you have part of the old cable still in the tube.
try spraying alot of pb blaster down the tube to break all the rust out, and you should be able to clear the obstruction. |

An option just in case you get stuck. You can replace the cable vents with the lever type. You may need to cut a little off their bottom, but I actuallly like them better. You can adjust each side independent and no messing with cables
