My wife watches this show about little people and ran in the room telling me to turn to it. The dad on the show has a thing for bugs and was buying this bad ass bug. They showed him test driving it and later buying it from this guy who had 7 more. It was a Red tricked chop top with polished 5 spokes; {which i thought looked cool} and i usually hate chop top bugs. Anyway it showed them test driving it and flying down the highway passing traffic. Didnt say what size the motor was but it was hauling ass. Then the little dude bought it while his wife was away on vacation and had custom pedals put in it so he could reach. He was saying how much he loved the car that he didnt even want to go on his scheduled business trip. He wanted to stay home and cruise his bug. I just thought that was cool that he has the "BUG" like we all do and it was on TV. Peace................... Red Bug

In the begining of that episode, we find out that Matt (the father) grew up learning to drive in a '67 Beetle which he still owned. There are two scenes with his '67 in it (the begining & when he asks his son to remove the rear seat from it) It was a wrecked hulk, but I'm sure some VW scavenger can still find some useful parts.
The Red Chopped Beetle he purchased also had a vert decklid! Shocked

I saw the show also, that was a nice looking bug! I think he said he had been after that bug for 11 years? Looks like he had a blast!!

I agree. It looks more like a wedge than a uniform chop. It appears like they took 3 inches out of the windshield frame, bent it down and welded it together. Looks cool from head-on though.
