My old '71 ASI (just sold on Samba) was called "FrankenBus" ( http://www.seanet.com/~shiuh/frankfr.htm ). Called him that because of all the other bus parts it took to bring him back to life. My new '63 camper (just bought on Samba, thanks Everett) is called "Meyer" ( http://www.seanet.com/~shiuh/meyer.htm ). We call him that after Travis McGee's sidekick in the John D. MacDonald books -- we hope this bus will take on some of the character's, er, characteristics.

I had a '59 Bus named Gus. I had a Mercedes 300SEL 6,3 named Guido, and a Mercedes Microbus named Attilla. I have a '66 Squareback named Nordhoff. I had a Karmann Ghia named Udo. We sometimes call my wife's Mercedes Turbo Diesel wagon Marlene. I once had a rubber plant named Seiberling.
It's nice to know I'm not the only wacko who names my sheet. |

i have a 69 bus named inga. inga was an exchange student from germany, who i met through the bus. over the year she was here our relationship grew and grew, and i must admit, i loved her. so in her remembrance, i named the car that got us together after her.
i also have a 67 beetle named - danger beetle, cause it is too dangerous to drive
a 69 beetle named - War beetle, cause it looks like it has been through a war, and runs like shit off a shovel
a 69 square named - THE SUBURBAN WAR WAGEN, i don't live in the suburbs but when i drive that loud rusted hunk to my girlfriends house in the suburbs her neighbors always shout at me. |

I drive two different beetles.. they have real names and nick names.. the 1970 is The Red Rocket but real name is Anna, Anna Kelton. I claim that car as a dependent on my taxes.. then the 56 is Der Fifty-Sixinator (Terminator freak here) but it's real name is Denise.. Looking for a single-cab truck. already got a name for it too. Der Meter-Maid.... I think that is fitting for a single cab.. a very cool meter-maid truck mind you

My 1960 ragtop beetle is called 'Eva' named after Hitler's girlfriend, our 1967 buggy is called 'de Buk' that is short for ' de buggy' ('the buggy' in Dutch)
I am currently working on a 1967 split, which has no name yet cause it doesn't drive yet....first see how she/he will behave before naming her/him.
My 1973 beetle is called 'pappa's auto' (daddy's car in Dutch) cause that is how my 3 year old daughter keeps the cars apart.... |
