Those side windows look kind of Binz 'ish? _________________ OGJHC

I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

I would bet it used to be a panel. I have several vintage photos and old postcards that show barndoors with wack windows. _________________ DKB |

I doubt it was a panel with the deluxe trim and sunroof, but with all the other mods it may have been. Just on the front you can see the fog light, the aerial, the headlight brows and the VW logo exchange. I will try to get a higher resolution shot of the front logo to see if it sheds any light on where this bus came from. Notice the Horse sign above the bus...Westfalia, Ferrari, Continental????? |

But....If it wasn't a panel, wouldn't the end of that first window "end" in the middle of the glass of a second popout on a window bus? _________________ DKB |

you are right, but to graft in all those windows, a sunroof, the trim even down to the bumper trim, I think something else is going on. Coachbuilt panel maybe... _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

That bus looks totally metalworked from a panel to me.
Just look at that passenger window.
Is it just the perspective, or is that window much too long for factory?
Also, the grab bar on the middle seat looks custom, as well. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

it's obviously some sort of taxi/tour bus. Is that an Austrian plate or German? The S on the plate may mean its from Steyr in Austria? _________________ 64 356 C Coupe |

That "S" on that plate is for Salzburg, Austria. It looks to be some taxi service bus from the town of Hallein which is right next to Salzburg. I've never seen that bus driving around Salzburg though.... _________________ There is always some tooth paste left in the tube |

I'm no barndoor connoiseur, but did not barndoor breeze windows hinge at the front of the window?
That breeze window looks like it pivots in the middle like later splits. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

Paino hinges were for early BD's (to -51). _________________ Cootra |
