I have a 67 bus with a hitch built to clear my dual muff. My muffler is not one of the new style fat boy style though. You can check my gallery to get a couples of different pictures of it. I hope it will give you an idea of maybe how to build your own.
Good luck.

Bob, you're "Splitwindow2" on eBay? I wondered who ended up getting that Puck.
You'll probably end up having to fab a hitch. There's a couple different ways to go about that.
One thing to keep in mind is that different brand headers fit differently. Meaning some might give you more clearence than others. I have a Bugpack 1 5/8" and a 1 3/4" (not sure who made it) that we can test fit, if you need to. _________________ Aaron D. Badertscher

Do a search both here and in the gallery for "hitches" and you'll find numerous styles. Mine is a "normal" type hitch grafted into bus bumper brackets and sits right in place of the bumper. So much so, that I then grafted a bumper right over it!
Clears just about anything you can throw at it! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Let me know if you end up needing any help with that hitch. _________________ Aaron D. Badertscher

Hey Bob,
PM your email. I have a shit load of hitch pics I've been saving for when I finally build one for my Single. I'll zip the file and send it to you. _________________ Aaron D. Badertscher

Here's a pic of the hitch on my '66. Looks like a dealer installed item, but I'm not sure...
I'd watch letting Aaron keep my puck though, you might go collect it one day and find a cardboard rendition of it! (Rib-rib!)

That's funny, I just typed "hitch" as keyword on the gallery and came up with 12 pages! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Well then, we'll do the homework for you.
Those are but a few on the first 3 pages. Now, though some are not for the splitbus, a little imagination and determination will go a long way.
Good luck! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

The one that goes all the way up to the torsion housing _________________ Aaron D. Badertscher

why is that any better or safer? If you are bolting it where th bumper goes you are still bolting it to the main frame of the bus... |

It's all relative. If you intend to tow a couple of bicycles and a tricycle, then a receiver ball strapped to the bumper will suffice. Anything "bigger" than that will need some reinforcement. Refer back to the pictures and you'll see some sort of such in a few of them, mine included. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |
