ad text quoted for posterity

This Concours class car is now a Rust proof Fiberglass Karmann Ghia Convertible - We warrant this car for 5 years to remain free of rust (if garaged), Karmann Ghias are known to be rust buckets but not this one. 13 new metal factory body panels were welded into lower sections, rocker panels, fenders, quarter panels etc, (Each panel was encased in fiber glass to prevent future rust), attached is a car detail report showing this car’s history using a New York service that does Vintage cars. Their report shows the actual miles to be 60,947 – very low for a 49 year-old car. Original speedometer has never been touched and still works, NC car, completely original, always garaged in temp. controlled garage, original dash like new has no cracks, like new interior, nose cone never dented (rare), has glass rear window, original radio still works and has a new speaker, car completely restored to better than new condition, all new chrome - 28 new chrome pieces (many new chrome pieces can no longer be bought) and both bumpers re-chromed, new red paint, base coat and expensive clear coat, undercoated with rubberized material, has brand new top, new headliner, new boot, drives like new, no oil burning, will deliver, Best in Show car. The last picture is of our 1985 Porsche 944 to show how good we take care of cars. It is not for sale.

Concourse? Indeed. His usage is up there with the very loose representations of what might constitute as restoration... and we've seen lots of those around the traps.
Tell him he's dreaming. Laughing

Eh, to what end? No one could honestly look at that POS & think “Ohhh, that’s worth $50,000.”. I’d just be yet another one of those jackasses that contact someone saying “it’s only worth...” with no intention of buying & I sure as hell couldn’t stop some idiot from buying it. Hell, I’ve already given a dozen people a “go away” price on my new project & im sure they thought the same thing, one even told me so. Laughing

I was more or less projecting, but you are right, what's the point. Anyone stupid enough to buy this thinking it is "concourse" deserves to fall into the stupid category!

The ad comments spells out the issues.

It's not advertised as a "concourse" car. Applause

I know I'm late to the party but I can't help myself Embarassed

IF...
"13 new metal factory body panels were welded into lower sections, rocker panels, fenders, quarter panels etc"
"NC car, completely original, always garaged in temp. controlled garage"

THEN...
why did it rust so badly?
how is it "completely original"?

I'm in the wrong business if this guy can sell that car.
