Another one of my favorite ads:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=142386
It was originally posted on Jan. 24, 2005! and last edited on Feb. 14, 2015. One would think that the price might be too high? I guess some people don't really want to sell their parts, even after 12 years! or maybe they are hoping prices will eventually align with their inflated asking price. |
EB..you need to charge 5 -10-15 bucks for each ad that runs over 30-60 -90 days
Your welcome

To see how bad this trend is, just google "get rich quick" or "how to scam people" and the number of sites are astounding. I have been a car guy all my life and I am now so jaded about buying old parts or cars I am tempted to leave the hobby. It seems for every old baby boomer that puts their old car up for sale... there are fifty scammers trying to get the parts/cars for nothing and then flipping them for a massive profit.
I miss the old days when you could ask the owner of a car up for sell about its history and get a real answer. Now it seems every car or part for sell has only been in the seller' possession for a few weeks.
Thanks to the internet you can usually trace the items history from eBay to Craigslist and back all within a month! _________________ Supercharged Texan

The mirror is rough, no doubt.
He does have the hard-to-find metal screw-on '58 horn ring and cover listed for sale. Even at $399, which seems steep, I'm surprised it's still available. Seems like the '58 style is more preferred over the plastic snap-on '59 style (which is also reproduced unlike the '58 ).

If that's true then the pair I have sitting on the shelf will pay for my new engine _________________

Car came from AZ so not much rust. Most body work has been done. Engine does not turn over. |
I take it that means "Most body work has been done ... and then the body shell was left to sit outside without any primer or cabriolet top to cover and protect it."
Just judging by the paint left on the inside tops of the doors, though, it looks as though it may have been painted a fairly unusual color for a Ghia - L 96 M (39) Marathon Metallic Blue perhaps?
If that was indeed the original color and someone were looking specifically for a Ghia that came from the factory in an unusual (and IMO, very beautiful) color, then it just might be worth the asking price.
After all it does have the fact that it's a 1974 model year Cabriolet going for it already, which by itself would already make it more desirable and/or valuable to many collectors.
... and in all fairness, much of the rust seen in the photos might just be slight surface rust that may not require extensive and expensive repair. |

is it me or is there some filler on the left head light area of this "all original factory correct untouched survivor. "
oh it must be as the ad goes on to state later it was repainted .....so much for OG and untouched.
I think he was asking 47K ......sale pending ....hope I'm wrong about the filler .. |
