Nope, I'm just the asshole that posted the Offspring reference.

Man, where was that show held? An abandoned warehouse complex?

Laughing Yup - as they said in the song, "If you don't rate, overcompensate".

Embarassed

... and what? - the Abortions thread Shocked

Hopefully they were refering to me, and not to that sweet custom VW Thing which I still say is awesome regardless of how well the color has held up. Smile

As far as the "abandoned warehouse" look comment about the show field, ... all I can say is that you've likely never been to Northern Indiana, have you?

IIRC, that was the same show where the Bikini Contest winner asked my wife what the judges were looking at "in the trunk" as they opened the engine lid.

The '80s, good times!

Somewhere on the internet (a Facebook page for '80s VWs photos?), there's even proof in the form of a photo of a young KGCoupe wearing a Porsche Raspberry polo shirt and standing next to a Hot Pink shortened and lowered custom VW Thing taken at a VW car show in Northern Indiana back around 1989.

If you're talking about this one, it made honorable mention in the abortions thread. Laughing

What type of rim is that? I’ve never seen vents like those before.

Yeah, it's tough when the institution won't let you have access to sharp/heavy items. Twisted Evil

I’ll throw this one in the mix.
Best Offer over $40,000?
It looks nice on screen though.

Unfinished? poor panel work? It’d be safer betting on a losing horse.

There has been a fairly significant bump up in price and interest lately. This has been said before but maybe our Ghia's are getting a second look due to sky high prices of our 356 & a/c 911 relatives. Karmann Ghia's seemed to benefit from more general exposure lately too. Hagarty has listed the KG as one of seven classics that you should by now before the price increases and we have seen them increasing. Still some will ask stupid money just to see what happens and others just want to show what they have and what they think its worth (to them). Bring a Trailer just sold a fat chick for 43k, probably historic for a 73 vert. Bring a trailer brings our cars to a broader and what I believe is a more well heeled collector car crowd. A Macy's holiday ad features a Karmann Ghia and I have seen a brief shot of a red KG in some Mecum advertising. People know these cars and are very attracted to the nice ones even if they're not VW enthusiasts. The 64 former Hot VW cover car is sharp and could probably fetch 40k but The Samba in probably the wrong venue to vet that sort of interest. The 75k rat rod seller is most definitely on a phishing expedition. All in all if you own a decent one and are on the fence about selling I think the Ghia market is ready to catch fire but it wont last too long. They just are not as iconic as the Beetle or Bus. Maybe Rodbuster will sell for asking after all....

$10K and it's on a 65 pan! No pink slip! Looks like somebody mopped white paint all over the entire thing.

That's an early one alright, no gas gauge, not easy to find, but it very rough shape along with the incorrect pan. I'd say its worth half that amount.

Very early body number #237! 4th or 5th oldest known body on the registry, shame the original pan is missing.

Imagine the real one was turned into Honda parts a long time ago.
Shame is in most states it would have to be registerd to the pan. Big hit on the value.
