So what do you type 3 guys know of the Future Shock Notch that was built by Steve Knecht and has been for sale for awhile now. I remember the car for the 80's but don't know the current news on the car.
Anyone?

If I had the funds, that car would be mine. It gave me wood in the 80's and almost does today. That's more than I can say for most of the females that gave me wood back then. The only Type 3 that did more for me back then, and still does more for me today is Norm Robert's pickup.

i would own it in a hearbeat too! just change that interior and paint. i have wanted a lift off hard top for my notch speedster for years and that one is very well done. wish i had the bones. i wonder if he would take a 412 in straight trade? Rolling Eyes

What about ShockWave or Suicidal Tendencies? Those two customized Squarebacks ruled the 80s show circuit.

Suicidal Tendencies was the one I drooled over. Also there was a M&M green one from nor cal that hooked me on the type 3. It was featured in VW trends in the 80's and I have not found that issue.

Page Proctor owned and built Suicidal Tendencies with the help of someone known as Kid Dean. KD had built a chopped top picture window square with slanted door postss and corvette bumpers. I heard they had original plans of the notchback convertable and they were in the mits of reproducing one. This was around 92-93.

Whatever happened to the KD car? That was my all time favorite. I would kill for the front bumpers and I still want to do the chop. Didn't also replace the front apron with a grille?

I have been trying to reach the guy with the notch but I am not sure if it is still available.
But if it is......

An updated look maybe necessary but it would be a cool ride with a turbo setup.

will keep you all posted.

I heard from Mike today on the notch. It was sold to a soldier that will be coming home from Iraq. The soldier sent a deposit but has not been in contact with them for weeks. We will pray that nothing has happened to him and that he is able to get the car.

Tom Notch's Notch is the only car that does it for me. Just the right touch of Darkside. I guess I just wasn't into those loud colors, even back in the 80s.

I think Richard Green in Texas has it, or knows the guy who currently owns it (a neighbor or good friend). Cool according to him, it had a couple of changes done to it over the years. Shocked A real shame, since that car was just about perfect like it was. Rolling Eyes

Most of those 80's mags were the reason I got back into type 3s. I was looking for a 69 Fastback, when I came across the 70 we still have (that was back in 8Cool. My wife called it my mistress, because I spent so much time working on it. Shocked

Best VW mag cover ever. Wink

The KD square was one of my favs also and I HATE red. So many cool things done to it that nobody else has done even to this day.

$5600 seems cheap to me for the "Future Shock Notch". There was a ton of money put into that car. Even if it was in the 80's. That top must have cost a fortune...
