After more than 25 years in VWs it's time to go. Thanks to all for the help I have gotten here. Check the classifieds.. I have a lot of stuff to sell. More ads will appear as I have time to catalogue and inventory.

Let me be the first to say: "Damn"
You should be proud of your reputation and I'm sure the friends you've made over the years. I wish I could've sent my carbs to you when it got to that point - enjoy more free time! (hopefully) |

Story time.
Years ago I contacted Mark to do a set of 42DCNF's that were... well F*CKED. Someone had lacquered them for some reason or another. I was in no hurry for these carbs, they were to be a gift and they weren't needed for months. I told this to Mark and he took a few weeks longer than he had projected which again, was no issue at all. Even though he knew this, he zinc plated all of the hardware for free. He also sent pictures the entire time of the rebuild.
One day a box showed up at my door, I had no idea what it was and to my surprise it was the carbs! They looked PHENOMENAL, better than brand new! I called Mark confused. I had not even payed for the job yet and I already received the carbs. He told me this is the way he does business, he only accepts money when the customer is completely satisfied. WOW! I was baffled. Years in the VW lifestyle and never have i dealt with such a person... in or out of the hobby. I gladly payed him.
Fast forward a few years.
My buddy Morgan send Mark a set of Dells which again, come back better than new. These Dells went on his dune buggy which saw lots of sand time.
Something very unfortunate happens April 7th, 2010. Morgan gets into a motorcycle crash and passes away... one of the first messages Morgan's family and I receive from the post made on thesamba is from Mark. Completely flabbergasted, Mark shared his condolences.
Morgan made an annual trip to the Silver Lakes sand dunes with his buggy and in memory of him, we put together a small group to go up there last year with Morgan's buggy in tow.
We had a great time but at the end we realized the engine was now only firing on 3 cylinders so we had to pack up and put the buggy on the trailer.
The carbs ended up getting loads of sand in them from the trip we made and the few before his accident so I contacted Mark about it hoping he would come out of retirement for a few days to tackle the job of rebuilding them... Mark did the original rebuild for Morgan, he is THE guy to go to for carb rebuilds... these carbs would not have been rebuild without Mark. I refused to send them to anyone else so if he was not up for it, I'd be knee deep in them.
To my surprise, Mark replied immediately. He said he would gladly rebuild the carbs.... no charge. Now when I mean no charge, I mean Mark refused to let me pay for anything. He was having nothing of the sort.
Sunday we are doing a memorial cruise to celebrate Morgan's life, Mark not only rebuilt the carbs for free but he did it under a time restraint and I will have the carbs back in time to drive the buggy in the memorial run with a modification for stronger air cleaner studs and all.
I just don't know what to say at this point. I cannot put into words my appreciation, Morgan's families appreciation. As a matter of fact when Teresa (Morgan's girlfriend of 10 years) heard Mark was going to rebuild the carbs for free, she broke down in tears.
I have never met Mark in person but his kind acts are changing lives.
Thank you Mark. |

Seriously, Mark is a great guy and I finally got to meet him face to face when I went to Jake Raby's show in Georgia. And his knowledge is not limited to just carbs. _________________ Glenn

I just got my 34-pict3 back from Mark after he rebushed the throttle shaft for me and I am thrilled with the outcome! Prior to the work I couldnt get the idle down under 1200 rpms, but now I can get it stable all the way down to 650 rpms. It solved all the problems I had been having before.
Mark was also great to deal as he made sure I had a carb that was properly setup for my ignition setup. He even spent the time to talk to me on the phone about my custom ignition setup to ensure my carb would be right for my setup. After some talking, we determined that the hole in my throttle plate should be soldered up, and redrilled smaller to accomodate my SVDA'esque setup. _________________ 1968 westy weekender

anyone seen or heard from Mark?
repeated emails to [email protected] have netted zero response.
I sent him 2 NDIX throttle bodies some months ago.
he sent one back w/o requesting any payment and now I cannot get a response.
the other TB does not belong to me and is about to create a sh*t storm if not returned soon. _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |

Hey Mark, did you forget about my carbs you still have? Send them back already.
This is tough for me to post as I know you're well respected here... Hate to make it public, but you won't respond to email or PM.
You have two sets of carbs I sent you over 6 months ago. Including a set of NOS 44 DCNF's. Those aren't cheap.
Please send them back and make it right. _________________ 69 Fastback Build
