|
|
Just had my new 56 Euro Beetle delivered and have a ton of stupid questions. What would have been where these holes are in the dash on either side of the speedometer? I also found a grab handle that is made of aluminum with a ribbed vinyl insert in the box of parts and it looks like it was mounted on the dash like later Beetles? Was that factory installed?
This car came from Texas and it is unbelievable... no rust anywhere. Can't wait to get it on the road. _________________ Craig

Where the hole on the left is, my 56 has a knob for a windshield washer. And the two holes on the right and the shape of the dust look like it probably had a Dehne Fuel Gauge.
Dehne from someone else's dash:

Holes on the right are for a Dehne fuel gauge. Hole on the left could be almost anything.........maybe even a starter button, and no they did not come with a grab handle.....but the previous owner may have installed one. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." That explains the sending unit on the gas tank. I looked around in the box of parts and found something with an ivory knob matching the other knobs. Not sure what it is, maybe that's what was on the left side of the speedometer. Thanks for the quick replies.
One more question.. no front seats came with the car, Would seats from 58-65 be the same? _________________ Craig

My '57 euro rag has the same handle you desribed;maybe a dealer option? It fits the dash perfectly. Mine also had a switch to the left of the speedo wired to the semaphores;the semi switch was replaced with a US switch. _________________ die schwarzen Schafe #666 |

1956-64 seat frames are what you're looking for. 1965 is a whole different style. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

'56-'60 are correct;'61-'64 are "close enough" _________________ die schwarzen Schafe #666 |

Brezelwerks makes a reproduction Dehne fuel guage that comes with every thing that you need to install it from the tank to the guage. Not cheap but sure is nice! They are here on the SAMBA. Search for Dehne. _________________ Never drive faster than your Angel can fly
