Anyone know of any plans on how to do a camper conversion? I have a 66 with no interior other than front seats and would like to convert to a camper. Really looking for a drawing or something mainly on building a rear seat out of plywood and angle iron that could have storage underneath and possibly fold open into bed. I remember somewhere there used to be plans you could order, I thought. |

If I were you, I would buy a really trashed interior out of an early bay window westfalia. That would give you the bed mechanism as well as patterns to use as a starting point to making your own custom components. The long cabinet will be too long and won't exactly match the contours of the side of the bus, but you could fix that. Most importantly though, you will have templates to use as a starting point to making your own interior. From there you can use your own veneers and add your own little touches. You could really make a nicer looking interior than Westfalia or any of the other conversion companies did, because you will have the luxury of spending some time on lots of little details and nice woods that VW/Westfalia or the other converters decided not to use for cost reasons. |

I'm with Major Woody on this one. An early bay interior can be had on the cheap. Or just get the z-bed mechanism out of one and use the EZ Camper cabinet blueprints from VintageBus.com.
Just go to the technical info section. _________________

I have a camper, but personally I feel most of the cabinetry is a waste of space. It's much more open and spacious and greater utility to simply have a stock rear seat that converts to a bed with the z-bed adapter from z products. |

I've got a Split window camper interior that I would love to get out of my garage. I have the z-bed, the closet, a cabinet that went in the driver's rear of the Bus, a fold down seat for behind the driver's seat, and two fold out tables that were on the cargo doors. If you're up for a little drive, it can be yours pretty cheap. If you or anyone else is interested, pm me and I can take some pics of everything and show you what I have. I beleive it was either a Sundial or Riviera interior. The vinyl on the bed and seat are a trquoise color. Pickup in Syracuse, Ny or for a fee I could deliver a reasonable distance. |

Seems like the Brits are on top of it.
I've been trying to source modern, efficient, cooktops, and refrigerators,
here in the states, let me know if you come up with any.
Take care

You know anyone heading out to the Denver, CO area? I could use a Riviera z-bed and such... _________________ -- Jeff--happyhippo

I bought a trashed out interior out of an EARLY baywindow westy for $25 at the junkyard. I got the z-bed, table, closet, overhead shelf, and rear mat. I left the jumpseat cause it was trashed. It had all the hardware though.
It is a long process to copy every piece, make them fit a split, and reassemble, but it will be worth it I feel.
Since that time, I've found the icebox/sink out of a '70 Westy and the spicerack out of a '68 Westy. Both will be retrofitted to my Splitty. _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.

Here is a link to a spanish forum http://www.foro4x4.com/foro/index.php?topic=3573.0
It's a bay, yes, but layout can be the same on both.
