|
|
I people, I have an old bambus tray in my car, it must have been 10 years since I picked it up at a swapmeet, this one however is shaped kind of like a letter "P", laid on to its back. It doesnt have the normal red bambus tag on the front edge of the shelf, but does have a bambus red foil ticket still attached via a piece of 50 year old string, and if you look close, you can see the original asking price in deutchmarks and pfennigs.
Anyone have any idea what the original application was, and the likely value? It is in almost mint condition.
Cheers, Si. |

Hi Simon, Post a photo when you get a chance. I'd like to see the tray you are talking about. |

thanks buddy, its my 66 beetle. On the shelf is an old chromkappen and empi gt horn push. Also, you might just make it out is the original foil tag, I tried to take pics of it, but it came out too bright! |

maybe, I kind of preferred it so it is flat side up - it has been there about 10 years now.
So does anyone know what it is for, or seen one before? Dont tell me it was a barndoor deluxe prototype thats never been seen since?!

if it was flipped over then the tray would indeed be mounted the correct way bu the useable bit of the tray would then be on the right hand side of the car.
I'm pretty sure it is the type of tray meant for a left hand drive bug with an Eberspacher heater in it _________________ Aircooled Apparel

That sounds fairly sensible, thanks.
I remembered just as I typed the last post, It only goes three quarters the way across the footwell, and I mounted it that way so I had most leg room on the drivers side, because I am very tall.
I am guessing that this is quite uncommon, I cant remember seeing another one, any got any thoughts on the value?

Hello, that shelf has nothing to do with Eberspächer gas heater. That type was sold to be used at passanger side only, it was an alternative if you did not want to have a regular, big parcel shelf. There were plastic versions as well.
If you have a parcel shelf (normal or a smaller one), you could easily use Eberspächer with it. I have the normal plastic Kamei shelf and Eberspächer B2 in my car and the heat flows the way that it does not harm the shelf.

It looks like it is for a Ford Taunus 17M. |

The Parcel shelf is for a Rekord Caravan from 1961 onwards. It is not for a VW, but if it fits, why not! |
