Frame off resto [how did he get it off??]..... yeah right!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volkswagen-Bus-Vana...9432QQrdZ1

Vents in the engine lid?

A 72 pass bus with a 74/75 Westy full width bed and 74/75 Westy front seats?

Brand new engine that has never been started but the A/C blows cold?

Dual webers?

And I love the "Fell free to me any ?" Anyone want to ask him what kind of English they teach in Casper, Wyoming?

Good of you to point this one out Karl. People should be aware of vehicles and sellers representations on deals like this one...

Nice shot of the wiring in the pic with the drivers door open... nice overspray on the "working AC"

WTF... is that upholstry condsidered part of the "frame off resto"?

Amazing how nice paint looks with fresh wax... in the dark... with spot lights on it.

Sort of like super models and makeup. Laughing

Looks like it's in a chop shop. Anybody see any of their missing parts?

I can't believe there are 28 bids and the price is over $3000!! Yikes!! Someone's gonna be pissed. Not sure who they're gonna be more justified in blaming, though, the guy selling it or themselves for getting duped.

I see "auction has ended" and "reserve not met" so at least no one bought the POS... YET... props to Karl for at least letting anyone reading this board from bidding on it Laughing

Looks like a passenger bus that got repaired with westy plaid bits. Paint looked awful inthe pics and dash wiring was far from right. However you would have to pay more than the top bid for one like that over here in the UK so count yourselfes lucky. I saw a $500 bus in the yard of a local shop that the new owner was going to restore and I kidyou not, the sum value of non scrap parts was easily $100! You guys are lucky that the bay is still cheap.

yeah i saw the same frame off claim before the auction ended. i had to laugh. and what the hell is that fan doing in the driver side engine compartment?

but really it is disturbing the con artistry that is ebay motors... i see busses that go for 11G that have a nice OG color repaint, but nothing else replaced. the listing is heavily peppered with the word original with claims of 80K original miles, and all the fish bite big.

makes me wonder when i sell my restored bus if anyone will appreciate the quality of the mechanical job i did. seems the fewer details are provided- the higher the price, as long as it is hyped as original! i shouldnt tell them any mechanical work was done at all- just put a drill on the speedo cable till it reads 2000 miles. and then claim they are original miles!!!!

Check out how the battery sits in the tray. I wonder if it would fall through if he pushed it all the way into place.

I like the Q & A:

Quote:
Q: I don't get it, you put a brand new engine in the bus yet you have failed to try to start it? Does the car run or not? Thanks
Jan-06-07
A: I had a fiew other members with ? about the running condition so last night i stabbed the destributer and she fired right up.I guarantee the running condition...more

Even in the day and age of spell check. Boy, I remember when con artists actually cared about their craft.

What was that about guaranteeing the running condition?

Think the battery has been photoshop'ed with text? Looks funny to me.

BTW, my wife bought me my Bus from ebay motors. Paid way too much for it. I did lookup the original ad but I can't find it now. Kinda funny comparing the ad to the real thing. But don't get me wrong, I love this Bus but just pisses me off when she had to get a loan for the auction and simple things like battery, fuel line, no jack and things like that need to be replaced to even drive it. ANd oh yeah....the custom paint job (is surface rust a color?), the rebuilt engine (hmmmm..only supporting paperwork is handwritten from a auto shop no longer in business). So far I am lucky though...I think.

Moral of the story? Don't bid on a vehicle unless you can physically inspect it. Not like Florida to Michigan is close enough.

OK, off my soapbox...
