This 1963 Beetle was stolen from my shop last Thursday 2-8-07. I posted this before the site went down and allot of our friends in the VW community were as saddened as I am. I really appreciate this and would hope that everyone would keep an eye out for this Ruby Red Beetle.

Here is a link to the pictures of this car. Also I offer a $1,000.00 reward for info that recovers the car.

This car was all original inside with the original seats, headliner, carpets, door panels, paint. http://www.classicvws.com/pics/redbug.htm

Also the car has black plates but, you probably don't know what that means being from he east coast. I bought this car and cleaned it up and had it sold for $5,000.00. By the way this car was never advertised for sale. While it was here a customer came by and fell in love with it and bought it. Between him buying it and it being stolen there were three more people begging to buy it for that price or even more.

That's a really nice looking car - sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Keeping an eye out in sleepy Rancho Bernardo and the local San Diego area -

That sucks lenny , hope you guys find it . what sucks is that car was worth alot more than the parts are worth just because the condition of the overall car. hopefully that along will keep the car together rather than someone cutting it into peices. I hate thieves

Lenny: Your loss hurt my soul......I hope others will keep responding in order to keep bringing your message to the top of the forum.

If it were my '62 ragtop, I would pity the thief if he were caught......

I feel for the prospective new owner.

Any updates Lenny? Keep us posted on the cameras etc... 99.9% of us feel for you and want to help. That other .1% guy is obviously a douchebag and does not represent the majority in the V.W community!

On the East Coast a car like that would be a steal at $5,000. I know, I was shopping for one. Sad

I am brand new to Samba, and am just getting into the whole learning process with classic VW's. When I saw that car, the first thing I thought was ...hmm... old red bug... THEN I saw the OE Radio, Black Plates, and what appeared to be a VERY original car. My mom was supposed to get a brand new bug back in the day, and someone told her dad they were unsafe... SO... she ended up with a really safe (hardly) and reliable (get a clue) CORVAIR. The only thing it had in common with the VW was rear engine and AIR cooled. She and my father drove the car to minnesota for my dad's graduate work, and the ONLY way you could drive it in winter was with cinder blocks in the front end. IF she would have done the VW, it would have been a SAFER car, more reliable, cheaper to fix, and kicked butt over a 4x4 SUV with stock wheels and all season bias ply tires. My state of the art BMW with its advanced traction systems could get OWNED by an old bug running a stock size Nokian tire. So suffice it to say, I am glad I found a GREAT VW retorer in So Cali (Laguna area here), sorry for your loss man, and will keep my eyes out for that red diamond in the rough classic. Curious... was that car sold by either Yates or Iverson (back in the day) my mom's should have been bug was going to be delivered to her through Chick Iverson VW (i think up in LA)

Peace,
Aaron

Good luck in finding it. She sure looks nice. I doubt I'll see it in Texas, but I'll keep an eye out nonetheless.
