Planning on some gasburners for my 58' sc
The truck has the early style front drums, will
the wide-5=porshe-5 adaptor space the wheel out enough.
Or do I still need to cut down the drum or wheel?

If you plan on running wide 5 to Porsche adapters you will have to machine down the back side of the adapter to clear the fat snout of the early drums.
I would recommend running 64 and later spindles and 944 disk brakes conversion because unless you narrow the beam 3 to 4 1/2" you wont be able to go low without rubbing on the doglegs at turns.

The beam is already narrowed 4+
I haven't heard about machining the adaptor before
that might work.

Thanks for the reply,
Tom

Yes, Its not much that has to be shaved either. Also you will have do drill out the lug nut holes bigger on the adapters since the holes are for the smaller beetle lugnuts.

adaptors suck! Really.

Just do the 944 front disc swap. Pretty simple conversion really.

Gas burners are cool wheels, I bet it will look tough once it is rolling Smile

how much do the adapters kick out the rims???

i'm just running flipped spindles on mine and will probably continue running the 145/65r15's that i have on the convo pro's i'm running now.

the rims are fuch look alikes with porsche pattern 4.5" wide with 4.125" back space.

centerlines are 3.5 wide with like a .5" backspace.

i guess my question is will that sort of offset suck the rim in enough that combined with the adapter i'd be about where i am now?
