Those Puma wheels look a lot like the new BTR wheels (which you can also get with beadlocks).
I may get a set for my buggy...

If anything were to happen to my wheels I would be converting to wide five and these. I love the wide five look.

If you're going to have the wide five look, you need to have really nice drums... or it just looks like poop.

Drums rust so easily, thats why I like hiding them behind wheel adapters and a closer 5 bolt pattern.

It'a all a matter of what you like. That's the great thing about buggies and kit cars. I'm going for a pseudo/updaded/old school/semi-clean look.

That's a big fat negative dude. Sad I started on my bus so I could have transportation in the event that I sold my Subaru. A guy bought my Subi Tuesday. Now I have 2 cars in the garage and neither is currently driveable. I think I'm two weeks from having the bus on the road so I rented a car in order to get back and forth to work in the mean time. the rental is brand spankin new and I have the pelasure of being the firs to rent it. It's also the biggest POS I've ever driven so it's encouraging me to crack the whip on myself.

The BumbleBuggy should be finished this summer. Of course I did say that last summer. Rolling Eyes

I got them off of a junked dune buggy chassis. It was all rusted and twisted and laying on a pile of other scrap in a guys back yard. They are "Superior Industries" brand. They are from back in the day and VW pattern. The fronts are 14'"s and the rears are 15"s like recommended by Meyers. I just got lucky. Very Happy

Something I have been thinking about though. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of old aluminum wheels just ones to fit VWs. Why not weld up the holes and re-drill them. I know there are probably some strength issues, but we are talking light weight dune buggies here. Just a thought, but I would do it. Very Happy

The Boss Bug is a little different than the Manx around the rear seat area. The lip that runs down each side of the rear seat (the area where top snaps are usually put) is about twice as wide as a Manx's is.

I have only seen two Boss Bugs in person and don't recall either one being particularly thick. There, that should start some, a-----discussion, yea that's it. Where's Murzi? Razz I do like the hood though. Very Happy

i don't think they are. i was told that they started in 1968 in PA. i have a few paper work on the buggy and i also have a copy of the emblem.

it looks like the super bee emblem used by chrysler/dodge. i have to look for it so i can make a sticker for my buugy.

I have a chance to pick up some slotted mags, but the front are 8.5 wide, while the back are 10 wide. I am worried that the 8.5 front is going to be too wide. What do you guys think?

I've got 7" on the front with 205/70's. Seems like 8.5" might be kinda wide. I have 8" with 275/55's on the Back Shocked

My fronts are 8" wide and the rears are 8.5 if that helps any. I wish they didn't stick out past the fender because any little wet spot you drive through throws water all over everything. The rears stick out past the fenders too and throw stuff dirt/water in the buggy. On the rear a little less offset might help, but the fronts hit the body when the wheel is turned all the way so changing the offset isn't an option there. On the other hand when you turn the wheel on the street you better be hanging on because it turns. Very Happy The wider tires do steer a little harder, but not bad.
