My speedometer is not working on my 1986 Vanagon Westfalia I am almost positive the issue is near the spindle. How do I go about inspecting those components? Cheers

Look if the square hole is worn out on drivers side, and if the circlip is present.

lift up the wheel, make it spin and look if the other end of the cable spins.

Not much different than a moped Wink

Double check the connection at the dash pod first.
As Alika has replied....make sure the C clip is holding the speedo cable at the drivers side spindle grease cap.
I put some RTV on it to keep it in place.

Don't forget to check the connections at the mileage counter for the O2 sensor. The cable goes from spindle to counter and then an other cable goes from the counter to the speedo.
