Has anyone ever bought a derelict bus or one that looked like a derelict had lived in it?
The 1958 walk-thru that I bought some six years ago was both. It was derelict in that it had been abandoned and inside it looked like a derelict had lived in it: oil had been spilled all over the cargo floors and old clothes, there were some porno mags, rubbers, and diapers (what a combination Laughing ), beer cans and old food with some rat droppings, and a lot of roaches in the ash tray. The price was right, though, so I was quite happy to clean it out, especially the ash tray. Very Happy

Yep just picked one up that looked lived in or at least something nasty went on inside of it. I call it Disco, because of the paint and interior. It had clothing in it, old love notes, fire bombs (see pic below), and all kinds of nasty in it.

There were three in the cargo area. Lets just say we put them outside and we moved on. Smile Where it sits on the tire is where we left it out there. See the other two on the ground in the picture and one was on the tire as we left.

Aside from the fire bombs and carpeted interior that is a nice looking panel.

Thank you It had a automatic IRS conversion in it before i got it. It still has a small auto shifter in the front, but the tranny and engine are gone. Just the front tranny hanger is left. So it will be some work to find a setup like that or I will just weld the horns back in and put it back to stock. I am thinking it had a type 3 setup in it.

We believe our bus was owned by some sort of sexual deviant derelict. When we bought our bus it was stripped and all the parts and stuff were piled up inside. The next day we started emptying it out and found the cargo door panels were covered in nudie pics from circa 1970's penthouse. (I could tell from the lack of personal grooming.) Anyway, after it was all empty you could see glue spots all over the bulkhead, cargo area walls and the roof inside.

My first bus- a 62 hardtop deluxe, had to have the "renter" evicted before I could take er home. That was in 1980. Always thought it was kinda odd that the guy had picked out a corner window deluxe with all the extra glass instead of a standard or even several panels sitting nearby...

The "renter" was hardly a derelict though, he actually kept the interior decently clean. He had a job and all. Again it was the 80's and in Alabama, fella just needed a place to lay his head I guess. Drove the wheels off that bus. Very Happy Sad memories...

I had a guy "moving in" to one of my buses back in '94. He was using it to sleep at night, arrived late and left early, but left his sleeping bag and clothes inside all day. One morning I was there early working in another bus and finally saw him (just waking up) and had a talk with him. I told him it wasn't a big deal but eventually he would need to move on. He stayed a few more days and then left. Oh yes, and he chose the Deluxe...

Lind has owned a few buses and I thought that he would have a few stories to tell. Surprised He must have seen it all. It would be hard to beat the one with the glue spots, though.

LOL. where do I start.

a few years back, I lived half a block from a convenience store. there was a park that was three blocks from the convenience store and the alley behind my house was the most direct route. one day, I was out in my back yard and I noticed that the cargo door on my roomate's 15 window was not latched. I went to close it and found an empty 40 inside. the damn derelict was too lazy to walk the extra two and a half blocks to the park to drink his booze.

last summer, I bought a 15 window that had been lived in for some time. the owner/resident had made a cab divider in it and tinted all the windows, as well as installing a roof vent. his brother and sister in law told me stories of it being the party shack back in the 80s, and that they were not responsible for anything I found in the bus. (I didn't find anything exciting in that one...)

a friend of mine bought a 21 window that had been converted to a 13 window by its previous resident by means of sheet metal and roofing tar. I wish I had pictures of the bus, it was really skanky.

it appears that derelicts prefer deluxes.

I have never had to evict anybody from a bus, but I did have to kick a bum out of a friend of mine's rental house that was unoccupied. I told him something to the effect of leave now or you will get some free room and board from the county. nothing gets a bum moving like the thought of going to jail.

every lived in bus that I have come across has been nasty skanky dirty inside. you think that the people could put some effort into cleaning their homes, its not like there are all that many rooms.

"THROW STRONGLY TO THE DESIRED LOCATION"??????????

I would think one would throw a firebomb into UNDESIRED locations, not DESIRED ones!
