Taking my 73 fatty out for a spin after degreasing and hosing down the engine when i spotted my buddy in his ford f-150 with a 5.0. We both stopped so i could show him i actually had a visible engine. He asked me if i ever raced that peice of shit. We went to the straight part of our neighborhood and lined up. He took me off the line, but i killed him in third! beat him by a cars length! who-hoo! Very Happy Then an old lady came out in the street and yelled at us to stop drag racing. Rolling Eyes

Are you sure there's not a 2332 FI turbo in the back?

I guess the peashooter shadow says NO.

"i can assure you, he was toying with you.."

i assure you, ive driven in this truck with him and have seem him put the pedal to the floor. If a vw engine is well tuned and taken care of, and you know how to work the clutch and when to shift, it can excelerate quick enough. Albeit his truck weighs 3X that of my car, but he has a 5.0!!!! Twisted Evil

A stock VW runs 18 second 1/4 miles.

Maybe he was only running on 5 cylinders?

Well since they haven't run a 5.0 in the f150 since 96, and most of those trucks are now worn out shitboxes, thats not a major feat.

dreamers dream.... tell you what... I have a 4.6 in my workvan... it also has a ton or so of weight in the rear of the van... I'll hook my car trailer up and load my bug on that trailer.. then we'll line them up and I'll still outpull you to 60MPH, even uphill... You don't need to tell me how well(IE poorly) a stock vw accellerates, I've been *modifying* the silly engines for a long time... know why? they are not built for speed, nor to accellerate quickly and in stock form, they *don't*.. no matter how much you wish they did...

If he blew his engine during this race, I stand corrected...

This guy is the closest to getting it right. Though im not calling it a major feat, just a good laugh and something to make fun of him for.

Ok I normally just read threw these and keep my opinion to my self , but I've been street racing and drag racing since I could reach the pedals , first off this sounds like yall just playing back and forth u really want to know the out come of this race put money on it that way u both try your hardest then u will get a honest and straight up out come , I've run several mustangs in my 63 and beat em BUT I'm running a 2332 turboed and built close gear trans so its not very street able , so I don't count the mustangs and camaros I've run on the street as wins I just like to shut the guys up when they talk shit bout my daily 65 bug

Wow. You guys can't even let the guy be stoked for a day.

I say good job jwagner. Make sure your buddy never forgets how he had his ass handed to him by a stock Super Beetle. Be sure to tell his dad too. Twisted Evil
