|
|
Well, my starter burned out do to the ignition switch not bouncing back to position 2 after the start.
No problem, I think. I’ll just order a new one. To be assured I got a good one, I placed an order for a Bosch. “Not in stock, expect in 5-7 days”. Month later not in stock. Ok, no problem, just order a new German one. “Not in stock, expect in 5-7 days”. Two weeks later I check back. “Expect in March maybe”.
Parts place does have some aftermarket, smaller than original. SR15NEC. Are these good, or do I look for a new distribution company? Or other alternatives? _________________ ‘73 Thing

FWIW I got my last one from Autozone. Rebuilt with lifetime warranty. They had it in stock locally. _________________ 1970 Deluxe Sunroof Bay Brilliant Blue/Cloud White

If this is for your '69, you can use an automatic starter and gain some cranking power. Your Thing would have come with one from the factory. |

Yes, it’s for my ‘69 single. Don’t know that I need more cranking power, just want reliability. _________________ ‘73 Thing

The auto starter does have greater reliability as well as more ass.

If you search the samba classifieds as well as google you’ll probably find one that’s affordable.
Lastly, please listen when old guys give you advice
