I would love to see the opinions of people who restore cars, whether professionally or not. That pile doesn't look like anything that can be salvaged short of replacing the entire car, as in there is nothing to attach anything to. Or is there? _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? I can't begin to understand it, but I've seen it endlessly on eBay and elsewhere: if something doesn't sell after a long time, raise the price. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |

This doesn't look like a Canadian Standard to me. (Actually called a Canadian Custom) Looks like a full headliner through the window, chrome vent windows instead of body colour, chrome window trim, chrome running board trim, ivory door handle escutseons, ivory dash knobs, I'm sure that the steering wheel probably wasn't originally a 3-spoke either.

No. That’s what they want. 14k would be too low. Probably somewhere in between would be reasonable. _________________ Tyson

Gotta be a bummer when you figure out that you mixed up the rear fenders on your Ovals you "restored"...

My bet is neither are original fenders. Seems like it would cost thousands to fix those HUGE issues. That is the one thing that really bothers me about early cars restored or not |
Yes, wrong taillight position is a huge kick in the nuts.
In the Bus world there is nothing more amateurish than having a 1961 or earlier Bus with the taillights having been previously hacked out and then the new hole is right in the middle, not high like early Buses, not low like later Buses, but somewhere splitting the difference in the middle.
A pair of hearts way up high on the fenders just sets off all kinds of warning bells, not to mention looks absolutely horrible and disproportioned. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

So true ! I am guessing about half of all restored splits and ovals have their taillights in the wrong position. you can spot them all the time. Most times those cars also lack some of the other year specific details. like wrong seats, steering wheels aso.
the dark grey later oval of the pair above sure seems to have its taillights in the very low, ie hearts position. that hurts.
the interior on the light grey is hideous and side panels appear to be of wrong shape for the year. somebody correct me, if I am wrong but neither of both colors is correct for the year. dark one looks a little like Jupiter Grau, but shouldn't that be a standard color?
Light one neither looks like light grey or nile beige. _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !
