firstly - surely this should be in the split whine thread? secondly remember how hacked up the vw38 was - similar red colour too.
advertiser does say this is an ex east german car so has been kept on the road with bodges. the later dash join is clear to see so not original to car and yes that roof line...interesting that the rear photos are from a low level but then again wasn't this a period when vw had to make the roofs in sections due to materials shortages?
shouldn't there be 5 finger pressings below the window? clear weld line visible too inside roof

I would assume that it had a big window graft at the same time as the dash graft and has since had a later model year split graft reinstalled. _________________ Dec 54 Ragtop Beetle

Yeah, "survived" a roll-over. No way anyone pays 10.5 for this rotten pile.

so you're trying to sell a project car that's in bits...and you 'show' the 'car' hidden by a tarp and a bike...yep, I'll buy that - 'chef's kiss emoji'

Shame he let that deteriorate so much. Heck, a couple rattle cans o' primer could've helped. _________________ My name's Steve and it's pronounced "Bust 'em" (cuz people think I'm Tom)

Annnd, it's got "front bucker seats" so that when it gets irritated it can give the driver a swift kick in the arse! _________________ My name's Steve and it's pronounced "Bust 'em" (cuz people think I'm Tom)

1955 Sedan?...??
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2690827
Maybe a late 1955 build 56 year model? Or a 55 that's been pieced together over the last 69 years. The pic of the passenger door sure looks like a 56 or 57 door to me...my 55 doors don't have that built in bar. And the pea shooter rear apron...I was under the impression those started after July of 55. I'd be thinking it'd have bullet turn signals in the front fenders as there doesn't seem any hint of semaphores. I suppose if all the seats are genuine 55 model and some of the other bits and bobs (all those rare parts...) are more correct maybe there's some value for a restomod but it would be a pricey starting point from what my experience has been...just me whinging |
