Beware of scams. There have been some on Craigslist recently along these lines. The scam involves ads like this that seem to come from someone who doesn't understand what they have and just needs to get rid of it. You call and they say, "Wow, I'm surprised how many people are calling. Send me a down payment right now and I'll hold it for you." After you send the money, the scammer stops responding to you.

A good point, Facebook has a lot of scams from what I have seen on some random VW parts pages.
Always ask for more pics, preferably something the seller can't provide unless the car is there in front of them.
I recently asked a scammer to send me a pic of something detailed. They sent me more pics of the parts but not what I asked for. More stolen pics they had I guess... I repeated that I wanted this specific photo. Surprise, no further replies...

The seller ended up getting back to me.... i ended up picking up this score. Real 3 fold and matching pan, also came with 2 sets of doors, fenders, W decklid, hood, all glass, no seats  |

I ask for a photo with something specific added - a piece of cloth a certain colour, a tin of beans etc. if they are stealing photos or they can't/wont do this then negotiation stops...

What does federalized mean as he used that term in his ad title ? Also he says its a 54 but no semiphores ... i have a 55 non semiphore ribbed door oval and thats the only year that came with ribbed doors and no Semiphores correct ? Atleast the mid 55's came that way.

I believe it means the car was originally a non-US-market car, but was retrofitted with whatever equipment was required to import the car into the US (at the time - whenever it was imported).

| With bullets and snowflakes it more likely a 55 spec. Never heard of federalized, but need vin and birth certificate to verify. 55's are tricky as many body design issues when to the later details. |

It’s a 3-fold ribbed door. Way overpriced for a bullet fender car… by 20k or so. However, I understand the pricing given he probably paid as much if not more to build it. A person can dream, and then the market speaks.

I don't consider it a "survivor" any longer once it'd been painted, especially a non-factory color, never mind the rest. At least he acknowledges much of it at the end, but just because it still exists doesn't mean it's a survivor.
