Brake lights

My brake lights are not working. Any ideas on where to start.

Fuses.
Light bulbs.

Add to the list the brake switch(s) at the master cylinder. Could be a broken switch, and/or wire at this location.

where is the master cylinder?

Remove the instrament cover. Remove the plastic cover. You will see it.
