| I will pick up a 78 vert Thur. and it is a project.... How do I tell what is similar or diff. between the verts parts and other super beetles? For example, I saw nice front seats in a 74 super today will these work? Similarly, the back seat looked good too. Someone told me the back seats in the convertible is smaller??? TIA |

vert back seats are different than sedans, and the front 74 seats will fit on the tracks but actually are again, different in looks and some function
( adustment on the backrest) than the later model (77-79 I think) style seats. |

I think you are correct. The 77-79 have round knobs for the back to recline the ones I saw in the yard are more of a lever - thanks!!
Ok here is a question I am kind of embarrased to ask but... how do I take the seats of the track - many years and several type IIs but never removed a seat..... |

On the 73 and later with the "center hump" the seats slide all the way BACKWARDS ( release lever pin held back or comletely removed) and right when the slide of the seat with the round holes gets near the end there is a retainer clip on the center hump you have to lever out of the way with a flat blade screw driver.
FYI... all 72 & earlier seats slide out FORWORDS on the rails.
type 1's others may/do differ.... |
