You can use studs from the front of a 1970's Bus, or buy the factory VW studs used on the Carat Wanagons with alloy wheels. You can also buy studs intended for Porsches from a number of aftermarket companies in all sorts of different lengths ( companies like Automotion, Tweeks, Paragon Products etc.) The 911 also uses 14x1.5 mm threaded studs same as the vans.

I used these:
http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC-C10-6690&Click=18774
They worked on my 15" Audi Alloys and my 16" Alloys from GoWesty. Price is right too.

The CIP1 studs do work well and they're cheap. I've used them several times, but since they are not threaded to the very end the advertised length is a little misleading.

Also, Vanagons equipped with factory alloys use the same short studs as the steel rim versions. VW just specified a taper seat lugnut rather than a ball seat in order to reach deeper into the alloy rim.
