Good find. I didn't know Jake offered the kits on ebay? That's pretty good considering the reported turnaround time some folks have waited for one. _________________ www.zwerks.ca |

Our turn around has REALLY went up since I acquired an Employee Jan 1 that has only engine kits as his primary job here. Generally the kits sold in the past took 8-12 weeks to turn around, when we were slammed they took 14-16. Last month we turned around five kits in LESS THAN one month! With the engine kit program quickly becoming more popular than my turn key engines(due solely to cost and turn around) it was clear that we needed an individual that concentrated only on kits and did everything from the first conversation interface to the final shipping directly with the client- this has helped the kit program tremendously.
We keep 90% of all the kit parts on our shelves, the only thing that slows us down today is the cylinder heads, which we specifically prepare for each kit based upon the kit, application and operating environment. The simpler kits like the Camper Special today can be turned out in 6 weeks or less IF we can get the new head cores imported from Spain on a routine basis without having to wait weeks on customs to release them.
The kit that is being sold is an oddity- I have never sold an engine kit on Ebay before and probably never will again. This one was prepared for a customer that had different cylinder heads than he thought he did (we prepared a square port kit and his engine was pre 79 with oval ports) so we ended up starting him a new kit from scratch and just shelving the other complete kit with the new square port 7424 heads.
Our kit program has grown by leaps and bounds this year, we have already prepared more kits the first QTR of 2007 that we had by August of 2006 and with a specialist preparing the kits they are being done with greater customer care and attention to detail then ever before.
Don't expect to see another deal like this again, especially not on Ebay. _________________ Jake Raby

Well, isn't that cool. Funny, though, I had to serch all over the page, and finally found 'VW' at the bottom, and 'Volkswagen' nowhere in the text. It might be difficult finding the ad in a normal search of VW parts, depending on the key words a browsing person decides to use. _________________ `

Yeah, we are not Ebay experts, I only use it once a year on average.. I'll try to change the subject line..

Buy it!! I have too many cars and the Spyder needs to go so I can finish my 181 and Beth's vert and have some where to put them when they are done... 12,000 square feet just isn't enough for all my junk! _________________ Jake Raby

I am a little confused.....
In the ebay ad it says: Shipping Costs US $175.
But in the text below, it says:
"Shipping and packaging charges for standard engine kits are a flat fee of $175.00 for insured, residential delivery via Fed Ex Ground within the continental US. THESE CHARGES ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THIS KIT!"
Is the $175 included or not? |

Read the description! SHIPPING IS INCLUDED!!! We don't play the shipping BS games like those that thrivefrom Ebay, I only use it once a year or so to do spring cleaning and the like..
This engine will fit a late 78 or 79 Bus or any Vanagon up through 83...
ANY YEAR TIV powered Bus can use this kit if you swapped the heaterboxes and paid us to swap the flywheels for an earlier set up which would only be about 100 bucks...
It only has an hour left....... _________________ Jake Raby

DAYUM! I spent last night trying to extract a destroyed pilot bearing from a motor with 120,000 miles. If that kit came with the pilot bearing already installed, I think I would have jumped at it!
My plan is to wait until this motor dies. Forturnately (or unfortunately) its been pretty healthy. But, I drift off to sleep every night thinking happy thoughts about a Camper Special. _________________ 1FUNBUG
