|
|
I have a Laser 917 and after noticing some slop in the steering I decided to adjust it,
HAH!
The top of the steering box is right up against the underside of the front end,
So I figured I have to pull the box off to adjust it so I put that on the back burner,
If I bench adjust the box do I need to do anything differently than if I adjust it on the car?
Thanks

You've got a fiberglass body...why not just cut enough material away to gain access. You only need enough room to get either a 17mm open end wrench or 17mm box wrench on the nut to loosen it, then a screw driver to turn the screw in until you encounter resistance...tighten up the lock nut and your done.
OOPS, I just realized something...are you talking about the part of the body that is the finish part of the body??? Meaning, of course, you can't just cut away material.
In that case can you use a jack, block of wood and a bunch of careful to lift the body away far enough to get a wrench on the lock nut and an offset screwdriver to adjust the screw? |
