^^^ personally I like the burgundy, has good reflections to show off the lines of the car.
there seems to be a lot of camber on the rear wheels on this one...

Maybe the engine is made of styrofoam. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

I know what you mean but it could be that it was order that way. I have a ‘50 Standard that according to the birth certificate original color is L11 Pastel Green.

The front looks low as well, I wonder if something is wrong with it, or the rear is just forcing it down. lol |

Car looks beautiful, and I really don't want to pick it apart, but...
Did they paint / powder coat the oil cooler??!?!?!
Good Lord, if you plan on driving that car more than 5 feet, the first thing you need to do is pull the engine and replace that. Why would anyone think of doing that? |

Why would someone paint an oil cooler? Is that a trick question? |

I agree, every one I've ever seen has been just plain bare metal. No 'finish' or coating of any kind.
(Which both cuts down heat flow, defeating its very purpose; AND adds to the production cost.)
[Nothing VW could afford to do that soon after the war].
Thermodynamically; it would be like fitting down jackets on your radiators and wondering why the house is cold
I much prefer stock original whenever possible.
Its also why I agree that standards in their true colors best represent the simplicity and smooth lines the beetle has. _________________ 1952 Azure Blue 12G (LHD Deluxe 3-fold sunroof Sedan).

Regarding the rear camber, this car just came off of the lift in my garage. I backed it up straight maybe 75 feet for the photos.
I had understood that a Standard could be ordered in a Deluxe color. Sorry to have offended the ultra-purists.
Spark plug wires were my best effort to restore as original as possible. If anyone would like to send me something better, I will gladly change them.
Engine was rebuilt and car reassembled by Ashley Roscoe and his team at Always V-Dub in Portland. They went to great lengths during the restoration to maintain the highest level of quality. I sincerely appreciate their efforts and the end result. _________________ Rick Christensen

don't worry - my rear camber comment relates to another beetle for sale and not yours (see ad link). I like the burgundy and after all it's just paint... |

then why is almost every early style oil cooler painted black or silver, in the classifieds? including NOS oil coolers still in their boxes. The oil cooler in my 25hp was painted when I disassembled the engine. _________________ drive your split. |
