Last week I believed that I had purchased a 6V sized, 12v dynamo, advertised on Samba https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2253111.
Since sending 270 euros to the seller via Paypal, as Goods/Service, I have heard nothing from them, and still await delivery, if it is truly to arrive. The item is still advertised on Samba, something I've e-mailed the seller about, but it remains there.
This morning I have initiated the Paypal process to get a response from the seller, with a view to getting my money back from them if nothing is forthcoming from the seller. Does anybody else have any previous experience with this seller? |

Many thanks for that information. Maybe because of the e-mail from Paypal, I've just received an e-mail from the seller to say that I shouldn't worry, and that the part is on its way, and that he forgot to delete the advert.
To maintain trust in these situations, communication plays a big part. |

All's well that ends well, as the dynamo arrived, and looks good. Communication, communication, communication! |

The chrome accents are all very cool, but I have a zwitter and even I removed the chrome trim in the rear windows. _________________ Rebecca Wolanin

Chrome beams are awesome. I can't tell you how many times I've jacked up my front end so somebody could crawl under the car to see it at shows. Especially the pitman arm. _________________ CH³NO²

I expect somebody has developed an app for your phone to live-stream the underside of your car. If they have not then the patent is mine! |

Why would you do that? Did you forget your mirrors? _________________ How to Post Photos

Nah. No mirrors for me. Black is beautiful on the bottom of a car. _________________ CH³NO²

Once upon a time, over 20 years ago, that was my car. (It's in my signature.) It is by no means a perfect restoration, but it was par for the era and I enjoyed driving it. (I should add that all the metal work was done by the previous owner.)
I'm curious about a couple of comments:
Quote: |
The ownership can be traced back to the mid 1950's and all owners are known by name. |
That's news to me. When I bought it, in California in 1995 or 1996, there was zero history other than the fact that it was registered in Connecticut, a state which didn't issue titles in that era. That created major headaches for me to get it titled in CA. (The bill of sale called it a 1949; when I titled it they kept that date even though I showed that the chassis number indicated it was a 1950. I'm assuming it still has a 1949 title.)

The paint is recent |
Recent as in 1996. As far as the Oldbug listing had stated, it was the same paint that I had done 23 years ago. It was an admittedly cheap job, though it really did look good and a lot of people asked / complimented me about it.
Despite that, and the obviously incorrect interior (I couldn't find proper materials back then -- I got the tweed interior from Lenny Copp), it's a decent car that I really enjoyed for several years. I almost considered buying it back when it appeared on Oldbug but realistically, it's not going to happen. That was then, this is now. I'm happy with my '54. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |

René thanks for sharing the info about that car.
It always amazes me how many times the story about a kubel or schwimmer will change when it trades hands after a few times....pretty soon they’ll all be in “original paint with all original metal” lol. |
