Grafted window into an Oval. Original Split window would not follow the louvers, they curve away at the outer ends. BOGUS ! |

For $62 USD (OBO), that might not be a bad price _________________ .

I get that the 3/4 are NLA and hard to find, but wow. A reproduction of the #2 synchro is only 22USD. _________________ modok wrote:

When I sell mine, I'll list it in Bitcoin. It's me hedge against inflation. _________________ Glenn

On a different subject now. I recently bought a reproduction right hand drive Zwitter/Oval glove box, from someone in Thailand, advertising them here on Samba.
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2543887
When it arrived, it's obvious that it's well made, of sturdy construction, and tough enough to keep your tools in. However, when I tried to fit it last week, I found that just about everything is dimensionally wrong with it, and wasn't able to do so. Firstly the box is too wide, allowing the original to almost fit in it, whilst the glove box metal pivot metal supports rub on both sides of the boxes when in situ.
I do have the original (not such a wonderful condition after 70 years) and a good original, which I was hoping not to use, so know what originals look like. I wonder if the maker of these has actually seen an original? Top & bottom, where the box makes contact with the bodywork, the board is straight, whilst the repro item is curved in an arc on the top, and all over the place along the bottom. See pictures.
The original has a defined width on the bottom edge, with 90 degree corners cut into them, whilst the repro has nothing like it. I could go on, but wont.
I'm looking for refund through Paypal, and would advise anybody thinking of buying one of these, not to do so, until such time that the seller is able to offer something that resembles the original.

Yes, and is it just me or does this view of the back look suspiciously like some 'papered-over' big window bug: ?
Doesn't the Standard model only come with a 'partial' headliner (fabric doesn't extend across the rear window section) ...
And especially what's with that 'dark rumply rectangular recess surrounding the twin windows?
Many proper details...but then;
the important ones are not. _________________ 1952 Azure Blue 12G (LHD Deluxe 3-fold sunroof Sedan).
