72 super tailights

hey yall,
do they make the euro amber/red/white tailights for 72 supers? ive only seen them for 68-70 beetles...

oh yeah, and if they dont make them for 72 beetles (because i think vw increased the size of the tailights starting in 71 or 72, before the elephants feet came out in 73) then will the 68-70 lights fit my 72?

OG Hella's are probably pretty rare, and I'm sure there are/were some re-pops at one time but I have not seen any advertised as of late, have you checked the classifieds on this site or put out a wanted ad on here?

You could switch to the 68-70 housings etc. they will fit the fender but the paint line may be different unlesss your installing them after fresh re-paint.

Try brazilshopping.com They might have what your looking for. I just bought some clear turn signals and red/white taillights for my 73. They have other years.

hey thanks for replying yall,
ive checked the classifieds on thesamba for the 72 euro tailights for a few months or so, but no luck. i havent put up a wanted ad yet though. and brazilshopping.com doesnt have them. hey, i thunk up some more questions about making my rusty 74 and my solid 72 into one car, sorry theres a bunch...

-is the windshield the same from my 74 standard to my 72 super(cracked)?
-is the rear seat backrest/parcel shelf the same from 74std to 72spr(missing)?
-do yall know what parts i need to change to swap a 74 autostick engine with a 72 manual engine(slop)? (i think the oil pump and starter are different)
-do yall know whats involved in physically mounting a 79conv rearview mirror in a 72spr?
-i saw theres 2 fans right behind the slotted front apron, are those for the regular 2-spd fan or did my car have a/c? (i found a "temp" dash knob when i was cleaning it out)
-where is the switch for the rear defroster in either car?

About the tail lights...

The USA (if I'm correct) was the only place to get the 71-72 tail lights that we're used to. All other places got 68-70 lights and then right to the elephants feet. If you want amber/red/clear, then do what I did and switch to 68-70 housings and lenses.

Can't help you with the rest. Except the defroster. I believe it's under the dash somewhere.
