I've been wondering if one of those self-inflating camping pads might make the upper bunk a bit more comfortable, I'd hope for one wide enough to do the entire upper bunk. You'd tuck it into the dead space at the very back, open the valve when you wanted to use the upper berth, then squeeze the air out of it when you were done.

Haven't yet seen one in a 'Full' size, though.

Best!

My wife and I use these and it keeps her from grumbling. Couldn’t find one full size, so settled for two individual ones. I think they were under $20 each.

I was debating on what to do for the upper bunk.. 1-2 inches of foam just isnt that comfortable.

It does appear there are several more inches of room, which can be used for additional foam padding.

however, my thought is the van seemed to have a air circulation issue, and has moldy roof syndrome.

I;d thought if there was permanently additional padding up there... wouldnt that make this issue worse?
